Legal advice
Seeking legal advice is a great way to get off on the right foot when a legal issue arises, and you are unsure how to resolve it. Often a lawyer is not necessary and advice from a legal professional saves time and money. A trained legal consultant will also be able to refer to other specialists as needed, working with them side by side to effectively address more specific aspects of a problem.
With my legal consulting service, I help my clients to identify the best solution and, whenever necessary, I work with the best professionals to clarify tax, legal and financial issues, both domestically and abroad. I will be your point of reference throughout the entire process, involving other specialists when required.
Mediation
Conflict management is often challenging. The parties involved have a tendency to see things from their perspective only and consequently agreement can be difficult. But, contrary to popular belief, turning to a lawyer is not the only solution in these cases and not necessarily the best idea to reach an agreement in a short period of time.
In addition to being a lawyer, I am also a mediator, a professional who deals with analyzing conflicts from every angle, looking at the interests of all the stakeholders involved, bringing these together in a constructive way. By negotiating an acceptable solution for all the parties involved, together we prevent a conflict from turning into a judicial dispute.
About me
My name is Ingrid van den Broek. I am a Dutch lawyer living in Ticino for more than ten years.
I graduated in law from the University of Leiden in 1992, specializing in Dutch civil and international law: at a relatively young age I had the opportunity to work on major international transactions, which allowed me to travel extensively and enrich myself professionally as well as personally.
Between 1996 and 1999 I worked for ABN AMRO Bank N.V. and it’s U.S. Midwest headquarters of LaSalle Bank N.A. in Chicago as a Vice President and Visiting Corporate Counsel. Over the years I gained a broad professional experience as senior legal counsel mainly in the financial services and banking industry in The Netherlands, Germany and France and later on as a senior legal and tax counsel in Switzerland.
Pro-mediator offers civil and commercial mediation services. Pro-mediator is proud to have been selected, in partnership with Ombudsstelle für Finanzdienstleister OFD in Zurich, to put in place a conciliation office based in Lugano to provide top-quality financial mediation services to financial services providers under the new Financial Services Act and Financial Institutions Act, which entered into force on January 1, 2020. I am honoured to have been approved by the Swiss ministry of Finance (‘DFF’) as one of the few qualified financial mediators in Ticino.
Coming from a culture in which mediation is the preferred initial step of conflict resolution, due to its efficiency, speed and reduced costs, I decided to enrich my professional profile with a specialization in the method of alternative dispute resolution and became a certified mediator at both Swiss and European level.
I founded Pro-Mediator with the aim of offering an innovative legal and mediation consultancy service in Ticino that is also able to address and effectively manage issues that may arise on an intercantonal and international stage, present in an increasing number of disputes.
